Where the Games are abscent

Security is one of Rio de Janeiro’s main problems. The Pacifying Police Units (UPPs), the metod chosen to address the issue in the city’s poorer communities, appear to have run out of momentum. With the Olympics coming soon, these communities have set alarm bells ringing for those planning the security of authorities, tourists and athlets. But what of the favela residents themselves? Will there be any legacy left over for them?
